Troubleshooting Novelty Candles

The problems you may experience with novelty candles are usually related to problems with the candle molds. The following is a troubleshooting guide for novelty candles and candle molds that may be of some help when things go wrong.

The Candle won't Release or Stuck to Mold

Possible Causes:

  • the candle wax was poured too hot
  • lack of a candle mold release agent

Possible Solutions:

  • reduce the pour temperature of the candle wax
  • use kemamide release powder (do not use silicone spray in plastic or rubber candle molds)

Candle Mold Deteriorating

Possible Causes:

  • use of candle scent
  • use of silicone spray

Possible Solutions:

  • do not use candle scents
  • do not use silicone spray; only use kemamide release additive
  • use miracle seal to plug small holes in the candle mold

Candle Mold is Stained

Possible Causes:

  • use of dyed candle wax

Possible Solutions:

  • use un-dyed candle wax in plastic and rubber candle molds, and over-dip the candle for color

Candle Mold Leaks - (Plastic)

Possible Causes:

  • the candle mold is not sealed properly
  • there are holes in the candle mold

Possible Solutions:

  • use masking tape, candle mold clamps, and candle mold base to seal the candle mold
  • use miracle seal to plug small holes in the candle mold
