It is also possible to create different shaped pillar candles by means of using molds. Then the possibilities are endless, these molds can be novelty figurines, novelty shapes and whatever, you would like to create.

Wicking and Pillar Candles

Pillar candles are best made with either flat or square candle wicks. These candle wicks are designed to curl into itself when burning; making the need to trim the wick superfluous. In other words, it is self-trimming.

Square candle wicks are braided whilst flat candle wicks tend to be plaited. This renders the square candle wick more suitable for use in beeswax candles since the square candle wick is more robust. A candle wick that does not turn into it self will drown in the melting wax and pose a hazard. A well-made candle wick goes a long way and has its consequences in the longevity of the pillar candle. Another interesting variation is the use of more than one candle wick when creating your pillar candle. Multi-wicked pillar candles provide an astonishing amount of light and warmth and could even last for years if burned properly.

Showing Off your Pillar Candles

Pillar or column candles are designed to be able to stand independently. It is thus a rigid candle. Be that as it may, the placement of your pillar candle is of great importance. It is recommended that the candles be placed on heat-resistant candle holders.

A well-placed collection of pillar candles of different sizes, colors and shapes and scents can make for a wonderful addition to any room’s décor.
